Dr. Tonay taught undergraduates in the Psychology Department at the University of California at Santa Cruz from 1989-2018, when she retired with the campus-wide Excellence in Teaching Award, in order to focus on her practice and other pursuits. She taught Systems of Psychotherapy, Psychological Interpretation, Community Mental Health, Clinical Psychology, Human Sexuality, Personality Assessment, Human Personality, and several other courses.
